LiPo – Indoor Positioning System using Visible Light - University of South Australia (Winner)

Our team developed a novel indoor positioning system using visible light – a breakthrough that is accurate, low cost and energy efficient. It uses simple hardware but achieves an average positioning error of less than 0.06 m, even when average user speed was 1.3 m/s, also accurately revealing user’s orientation.

Ask Izzy is a free, location-based mobile website that helps the one in 200 Australians who are homeless each night find food, shelter and other support services. Almost 80% of homeless people own a smartphone and now they can search more than 350,000 services across Australia to find help nearby.

SNOMAN - Clinical Terminology Mapping Solution - Metro South Health & AEHRC - CSIRO (Merit Recipient)

A collaboration between CSIRO and Princess Alexandra Hospital saw the development of SNOMAN; a tool that automatically maps the SNOMED terminology from the hospital’s EMR to the ICD10 Codeset . This will facilitate accurate funding data, while also allowing clinicians to reap the benefits of the more detailed SNOMED terminology.
